CBTE Must Govern the Mentor Team

Mentoring is not free infrastructure or informal goodwill. A credible CBTE programme must define, prepare, support, resource and hold mentor teams accountable for learning, formation and fair assessment.

Here CBTE means a contextual, mentored and competence-demonstration approach to Bible-college and church-based ministerial formation. It is not the same as Kenya's general occupational Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), although the two may share language about outcomes, assessment and prior learning.

The mentor team is often presented as CBTE's relational strength. It can connect biblical and theological learning with character, ministry practice and the learner's actual community.
