Pentecostal Mission Must Move Resources in Every Direction

The centre of Christianity has moved south, but mission finance still too often travels through old channels. Pentecostal mission needs voluntary giving, shared power, transparent stewardship and durable care for people.

Pentecostal mission is often narrated through movement: missionaries sent, churches planted, sermons streamed, crusades held and testimonies carried across borders. Yet every movement has a material life. Someone pays a worker's rent, translates a lesson, trains a pastor, protects a child, buys data, repairs a vehicle, audits an account and remains with a community after the platform has moved on.

The newest consequential public signal in this field came on 15 October 2026, when the Seventh-day Adventist Church reported that its worldwide mission offerings had reached US$72.8 million through August, almost 10 per cent above the same period in 2025. The report says pooled funds support missionaries, schools, churches, media ministries and work in places where local resources are insufficient. This is an official denominational self-report and a non-Pentecostal comparator. It is not an independent audit, an impact evaluation or evidence that every funded activity achieved its purpose. For Pentecostals, the question is not whether the Spirit needs money. It is whether the people entrusted with money will order it toward God's mission with freedom, justice, truth and mutual responsibility. Pentecostal mission must learn to move resources in every direction, while making every direction accountable.
