Pentecostal Evangelism Must Govern the Response List
When Pentecostal evangelism invites public response, every name, number and testimony becomes a pastoral trust. Truthful categories, informed consent, secure local handoff and sustained care must govern the response list.
Pentecostal Christianity has always known how to make the gospel public. A field, stadium, market centre, church hall or livestream can become a place of urgent proclamation, expectant prayer and visible response. The invitation to receive Christ is not an embarrassment to be hidden. It witnesses to the conviction that the risen Jesus still calls people and that the Holy Spirit still brings conviction, freedom and new life.
Yet the public moment can become detached from the Christian life it announces. A raised hand may express faith, curiosity, social pressure, a request for prayer or a desire to begin again. Walking forward does not tell us whether a person understood the gospel, freely consented to follow-up, entered a community, received sound teaching, found protection in crisis or continued as a disciple. A livestream view tells us even less.
The challenge is not to choose between evangelism and discipleship. The Great Commission joins going, baptising and teaching obedience. Acts joins Spirit-empowered witness with continuing in apostolic teaching, fellowship, shared life and prayer. A Pentecostal crusade should therefore be designed as the visible opening of a longer ecclesial pathway, not as a self-contained production whose success can be settled before the platform is dismantled.
