Pentecostal Mission Must Send Builders, Not Only Broadcasters

Pentecostal churches have learned to broadcast. A worship service can cross borders in seconds. A sermon recorded in Nairobi, Lagos or Accra can reach a listener on another continent before the benediction has ended. Prayer, testimony and teaching now travel through phones held in buses, farms, lecture rooms and hospital corridors.

This reach is a gift. It is not the whole digital mission.

If Pentecostal engagement with technology ends with cameras, livestreams, social posts and faster sermon production, the Church remains a consumer standing on platforms designed by others. The deeper calling is to form Spirit-filled builders: developers, designers, educators, entrepreneurs, researchers, regulators and ministry leaders who can shape technology towards truth, dignity, access, justice and neighbour-love.

The Spirit who empowers proclamation also gives wisdom for construction. Pentecostal mission must send voices into the world, but it must also send builders into the systems through which the world increasingly lives.

The Believers Tech Network Conference is meeting in Lagos from 7 to 9 August 2026. Its theme, drawn from Genesis 2:15, is To Tend and Keep.
